Meet Miranda. She lives in Austin. She is hip, professional, and only 14. She is a local blogger that covers fashion trends and provides valuable tips and secrets for those of us who want to look like a million bucks but don’t want to spend it.
I came across her blog by fate. I was meant to find her. She is an amazing inspiration to me (since it is difficult for me to keep up blogs…I have tried SEVERAL times, and I need a bit of fashion help.) She was kind enough to answer some interview questions so that you all can get to know a little bit more behind the talent of Thoughts of a Fashioneur.

{Tell us about your site. What is it about, and what is your main goal for the site?}
My blog is all about fashion for real people. I try to make the pieces I present affordable and accessible to average people. Many of the fashion blogs I read are all about designer clothing, but that’s only a small part of the fashion world.
{Who is your target audience?}
My blog is really for anyone who loves fashion, is trying to love it more, or just wants to look like a million bucks, without spending it. I want my blog to be a place where anyone can seek fashion inspiration, regardless of their budget.
{How and when did you get started? Share your Ah-Hah moment!}
I started my blog in May of 2009. Despite the fact that I had just finished sixth grade, I had big dreams and a lot to say, so I combined my love for fashion and my love of talking together…and POOF! My blog began.
{How do you decide what to write/blog about? Do you research or is it mostly your style/taste that influences you?}
In the beginning, my blog was more of a place for reviews. I talked about my thoughts on fashion and style, articles and runway shows, etc. Eventually I started adding more street style segments and Polyvore sets, outfit ideas and “how to’s”. I blog about whatever I feel needs to be said, sometimes it’s completely random!
{I see there is a lot of vintage on your site. What is your favorite thing about vintage?} – SIDE NOTE- I definitely have a tank top like the picture above that she shares came from her mom’s closet. Oy. VINTAGE!!
I absolutely LOVE vintage clothes! First of all, I love finding vintage clothes. Most “vintage” stores are just overpriced thrift stores, where all the trashy stuff has been picked out. Personally, I like sifting through all the tacky 80′s shirts and coffee stained pants to find the good stuff. Some of my favorite pieces that I own are from thrift stores, stuff I dug out of a bin and paid two or three dollars for. Secondly, I like having unique clothes, stuff no one else has. Third, it’s so much cheaper! One of my new favorite stores, Frock On, has a two dollar “treasure chest” every Saturday. I went a couple of weeks ago and found some AMAZING stuff-all for just two dollars! Not to mention, the past few decades have had some pretty awesome trends!
{Do you have anyone or anything that serves as your main inspiration or motivation?}
I am a big fan of Stella McCartney. I am very interested in environmentally friendly fashion and absolutely love her work! My motivation is to break down barriers between fashion and real world issues.
{What are your long-term goals for you and your site?}
My dream is to become an environmentally friendly fashion designer, and I hope that my blog can help me speak out about something that I love. I hope to gain more readers and followers-to get heard-but I don’t want to get lost in the commercial aspect of blogging. A lot of bloggers, as they gain popularity, become more of a big advertisement for companies and designers. I want to keep the original essence of my blog: fashion for anyone.
{If you could interview on person for your blog, who would you choose?}
Probably Stella McCartney. Like I said, I’m a big fan! She is able to combine a pressing issue, the state of our environment, with fashion. She has made a name for herself in the world, not just as Paul McCartney’s daughter.
{Do you or do you plan to design clothing?}
My dream is to become an environmentally friendly fashion designer, but I would also love to write. I don’t know exactly where my career will take me, but I know I want a career in fashion, and I know I want to make a difference.
{Tell us more about you. When you aren’t blogging, what can one find you doing?}
Well, when I’m not blogging, and I’m not doing homework, I love to go shopping and hang out with my friends.
{You have a page called Talking T-Shirts; if you wore a talking t-shirt to this interview, what would it say? }
Call me a hipster, but I love ironic t-shirts! That was my inspiration for the talking t-shirts page, although most of the ideas I posted are fairly random. I suppose a good one for an interview would be : “Wait! I’m thinking…”
{What has been your biggest challenge during your blogging career?}
I think my biggest challenge was trying to get readers. For the first month, I literally had NO readers, but I kept blogging, and eventually I gained more readers. I just had to get my name out there!
{Tell us a memorable story about a blog post. Someone you met, something that happened, etc.}
When I was at ACL 2011, I got to do a short video interview with Theophilus London. If you haven’t heard of him, look him up! I love his music (and his style), so getting to meet him AND interview him was pretty amazing.
{If someone your age wanted to start a blog, what are 3 tips or some advice that you would give them?}
If you want to start a blog, bring something unique to it, something no one else has. To create a successful blog, you have to stand out from the crowd. Figure out what your passionate about, and find something you can contribute to the blogging world that no one else has.
