So, Earth Day is right around the corner. That means our FIRST big event is happening VERY soon.
In honor of this event, I am posting some fun stuff about Trashion – Fashion from trash.
This was my attempt at a funky outfit about 3 years ago. Made with: fused grocery bags, newspaper, garbage bags, and other misc. things. Now, I am no seamstress and after three years I hope that my sewing and design skills have improved. I hope to make something amazing to wear for our event!!
Yesterday I was introduced to artist Katie Spain who crochets grocery bags into organic sculptures!
If you want to see a video I made of some things to make with grocery bags…. here it is!
I ALSO found this amazing young blogger who recently covered the Style X here in Austin, TX.
Miranda Waldron Curry runs the blog, Thoughts of a Fashioneur. She has a great post about some eco-friendly fashion designers that were there!
Check it out and stay tuned to hear more about her.
At our event you will be able to make something out of grocery bags. Demos will be on site! Come join us!!
Don’t forget, bring all of your old plastic grocery bags to donate and upcycle.
We still need volunteers!
Tchotchkes will be planning a craft meet up to make decorations and create fun outfits to wear at the event. It will be a fun event!! Won’t you join us?
